David Silva ruled out of Manchester derby with injury

David Silva has suffered ligament damage and will miss Manchester United’s game against City this weekend, reports The Mirror.

The Spaniard was substituted early on against Newcastle in the Capital One Cup on Thursday and has now been ruled out of the derby which is certainly good news for United.

Silva is the architect for City and although they’ve got plenty of players who can fill the gap, none have the ability of Silva and with Yaya Toure also not guaranteed to be fit, City’s side could be significantly weakened.

That being said, there’s no guarantees United aren’t going to be without plenty of first team players. The latest reports suggest Wayne Rooney is going to be fit after concerns arose this week about a potential foot injury and there hasn’t been any updates on the fitness of Radamel Falcao who missed the Chelsea game through injury.

Ander Herrera has been training all week and could make his return to action. Elsewhere, Angel di Maria is expected to be fit.
