David de Gea has been voted as October’s Player of the Month by Manchester United fans with a massive 70% of the vote.
The Spaniard was nominated for the award alongside Marouane Fellaini and Angel di Maria but after his performance against Everton, there was only ever likely to be one winner.
De Gea also put in strong performances against West Brom and especially Chelsea where he made multiple saves to keep United in the game.
It’s a richly deserved award for De Gea who was nothing short of fantastic and after an indifferent start to the season, he is now one of United’s most in-form players.
Sometimes it can be forgotten how important a world class goalkeeper is but in recent games De Gea has reminded fans just how crucial it is to have somebody you can rely on between the sticks.
Having cemented his place as United’s No.1 goalkeeper and made his full Spain debut, this has been a strong season so far for De Gea. Here’s hoping he continues this sort of form all season, starting with a clean sheet against Manchester City on Sunday.
