Angelo Henriquez’s father has told Chilean newspaper La Tercera that his son wants to return to Manchester United after his loan spell at Dinamo Zagreb and fight for his place in Louis van Gaal‘s team.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation since joining Zagreb on loan with ten goals in his last 12 appearances but because the Croatian club have a purchase clause in the loan deal, questions have been asked to whether Henriquez has any chance of making it at United.
However, speaking to La Tercera, Henriquez Sr. insisted one of the main goals of his son was to return to United and succeed at Old Trafford.
“The idea of returning to Manchester United and succeeding is one of the main goals for Henriquez,” he said.
“He aims to be a part of the team that believed in him when he was younger.”
So far on his loan spell, Henriquez has done everything he possibly can to keep him in Louis van Gaal‘s thought process and with Robin van Persie not getting any younger, there is a need to bring young strikers through into the first-team squad.
James Wilson, 18, is part of the squad now and Will Keane went on the pre-season US Tour but Henriquez’s recent goalscoring exploits suggests Van Gaal should bring the Chilean back to United after this season and give him the same opportunities.
