Nani has fired shots at Manchester United by insisting he is enjoying his time at Sporting Lisbon with people who believe in his abilities and trust him as a footballer.
The winger rejoined his old Portuguese club Sporting on a season long loan deal as part of Marcos Rojo‘s arrival at Old Trafford and has gone on to make a great impression early on with having been named the current best player in the Portuguese League.
Only a few days ago, Nani insisted he would be happy to return to United if he was wanted but has since intimated he has no intention of returning, firing shots at both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal for not having confidence in him.
“I don’t think about my return to Manchester,” he said.
“Right now I’m enjoying my time here with people who like me and believe in my abilities.”
The main recipient of Nani’s barbs are most certainly Moyes for not giving him enough opportunities but the reality is that Nani didn’t take advantage of his chances when he was presented them, much like Shinji Kagawa.
After seeing him train for a few weeks, Van Gaal decided Nani could leave on loan and that was his own judgement. With Juan Mata struggling for game time, there wouldn’t have been much room for Nani at Old Trafford this season so a loan spell was certainly the right move for him.
Nani is still only 27 and has plenty of time left in his playing career but at this stage there is every chance he won’t play for United again.
