David de Gea shortlisted for Player of the Year Award

David de Gea has been named on a four man shortlist for the Northwest Football Awards’ Player of the Year.

Having scooped both the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Year Award at United after his fantastic season, it is a richly deserved nomination for De Gea to be up for this award.

In a season of mediocrity under David Moyes, De Gea was consistently United’s stand-out performer and there was no United player who came close to winning either club award.

De Gea has continued where he left off last season with some outstanding performances already this year under Louis van Gaal, most notably his stunning individual show against Everton which included two dramatic late saves to earn United the 2-1 win.

The three other candidates for the Northwest Player of the Year Award are Raheem Sterling, Yaya Toure and Seamus Coleman.
