Manchester United are once again being linked with a move for Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro.
Reports in Italy suggest United and Liverpool are the two clubs who are interested in a move for £6m rated Ribeiro and the 25-year-old is one of most highly rated players in the Brazilian League.
Having previously talked to United officials, Ribeiro’s representatives were very keen to have discussions over a move and Ribeiro himself made it clear he was interested by insisting he could play in any midfield role at United.
Having been labelled the ‘Brazilian Bale‘ by some, Ribeiro was named the best player in the Brazilian League last year and was crucial in Cruzeiro’s title triumph that saw them take part in the 2014 Copa Libertadores where they were knocked out in the quarter finals by the eventual winners San Lorenzo.
Previously, Ribeiro went as far as to say he’d prefer a move to United over Real Madrid and it was clear how eager he was for a move to materialise but it never did.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see the links have resurfaced but in comparison to previously when Ribeiro could have walked into a threadbare United midfield, the arrival of Di Maria, Herrera and Blind make it somewhat less likely Ribeiro would move.
That being said, at £6m he would hardly be much of a risk but as is always the case with foreign players, there is the inherent risk that the rigours of the Premier League are too much but at such a small price, it would be a small risk to take.
