Here is the latest Manchester United chat and gossip including fantastical reports suggesting Angel di Maria and Gareth Bale could be involved in a swap deal as well as a revealing update from Juventus CEO Guiseppe Marotta on Arturo Vidal.
Di Maria has been nothing short of a revelation since joining Manchester United in the summer and Bale has certainly taken to life at Real Madrid, so when rumours started of a swap deal involving the pair, more than a fair share of chuckles from both Spain and England erupted.
Neither side would even possibly entertain the idea of selling. There’s more chance of United re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer than Bale and Di Maria going in opposite directions. United did have the chance to sign Bale but that was when he was a teenager, that ship has sailed.
During the summer, Arturo Vidal was the centre of United’s annual transfer saga which never materialised despite, according to Juventus and the player himself, his knee being in 100% condition.
However, Juventus CEO Guiseppe Marotta has now revealed Vidal’s knee was the main sticking point for any move in the summer and hasn’t yet fully recovered, which is certainly a change of tone.
Jamie Jackson of The Guardian reports that Louis van Gaal will not be looking to make any signings in January which, if it were to be the case, could leave United up the creek without a paddle for the whole season if defensive injuries and instability continues.
One such reinforcement could be Bruno Martins Indi who played under Van Gaal at the World Cup but is now being linked with a move to Old Trafford despite the fact he only joined Porto in the summer.
