David de Gea may have quashed rumours linking him with Real Madrid but it hasn’t stopped fresh reports from emerging over in Spain.
Fichajes suggest Louis van Gaal‘s decision to let Victor Valdes train at Carrington with Manchester United’s first team is a prelude to him joining on a free transfer in the near future, something which they believe would pave the way for De Gea join Real Madrid.
With Iker Casillas’ future in the Spanish capital far from secure, Real Madrid are certainly going to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper soon and Madrid born De Gea is likely to be atop their most wanted list because, at 23, he is already one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Demand for De Gea is only going to increase the better he gets but there’s no chance United have any intention of selling him and at this moment in time, the Spaniard has no intention of leaving United either.
“Those are rumours. I am happy here,” De Gea said when asked about the Madrid rumours back in October.
There is every chance that at some point in the future De Gea will return to Madrid where he was born but will his loyalty to Atletico Madrid, where he spent his entire youth career, stop him from joining Real? Time will tell but in the present, De Gea is no closer to joining Real Madrid than Tom Cleverley.
