Daley Blind has been left frustrated by a knee injury he sustained away on international duty which will rule him out of action for the next four to six weeks but has vowed to come back stronger when he returns.
Despite being able to walk off the pitch, Dutch television channel NOS confirmed the terrible news about Blind’s injury which will now halt his excellent start to life at Manchester United
“It does not look so good,” Guus Hiddink said of Blind’s injury.
“i think its his medial ligament. It could be a strain or a tear.”
Speaking after the game on in his Instagram account, Blind said:
“I’m proud of my 25 games for the Dutch national team, but I’m so gutted with my injury… I’ll stay positive en will come back stronger! Nevertheless a great win, 6-0!”
Angel di Maria might have been the most important for United going forward this season but in the make-up and balance of the team, Blind was absolutely integral to that.
From his midfield anchor role, Blind dictated the pace of the game. Di Maria had the ability to win games but Blind thrived on making sure you didn’t lose games and in his absence, United are going to struggle as there isn’t an adequate replacement with Michael Carrick already injured.
