De Gea likely to be fit to play Arsenal – report

David de Gea‘s dislocated finger is unlikely to keep him out of Manchester United’s game against Arsenal this weekend, according to sources close to Andy Mitten.

United’s No.1 goalkeeper suffered the injury during training away on international duty with Spain this week and there were initial fears he could be sidelined for some time.

However, the latest from Spain intimates De Gea will be ready for United’s trip to the Emirates which would be a welcome boost after what has been a terrible international break for the club.

Michael Carrick withdrew from England with an injury and Daley Blind suffered a medial knee ligament tear which could see him ruled out for up to six weeks.

De Gea has been a rock at the back for United behind a defence made of sand so if he were to be missing for Arsenal, it would put United on the back foot immediately. Anders Lindegaard is a good goalkeeper but he is no De Gea.

There will be no official confirmation about De Gea’s fitness until Louis van Gal’s press conference on Friday but the signs are looking positive for the Spaniard.
