Ander Herrera has been in great form for Manchester United when fit this season and according to Sport1 in Germany, the Spaniard has caught the eye of Bayern Munich who are looking to strengthen their midfield.
Sport1 suggest Herrera would be able to ‘play flawlessly’ alongside Xabi Alonso and believe his value is currently €27m, less than what United paid for him in the summer.
Long-term injuries to Javi Martinez, Thiago Alcantara and Philipp Lahm have left the Bundesliga champions light in that department so Bayern could look to strengthen in January.
Bayern reacted quickly during the summer to sign Mehdi Benatia from AS Roma after Martinez was ruled out for the season and cash flow is certainly not a problem for the Bavarian club.
Sport1 go on to say Xherdan Shaqiri could be included in any deal to bring Herrera to the Allianz Arena.
Try as they might, there’s not a chance Louis van Gaal would even entertain the possibility of selling Herrera to Bayern. He was only brought into the club this summer and although injuries have hampered him making a significant impact, his form in September when fully fit was enough to show how good he will be when his fitness issues are behind him.
This season is the strongest United’s central midfield has looked in many years and Herrera has been a central figure in that alongside fellow new signings Daley Blind and Angel di Maria.
Bayern may well be interested in attempting to lure Herrera to Germany but they’ve got more chance of signing Hector Herrera from FC Porto than Ander from United.
