Di Maria: I hope my foot doesn’t swell anymore

by Sam Peoples

Angel di Maria is concerned over swelling on his foot and whether it will keep him out of Manchester United’s game against Arsenal on Saturday.

Nani’s terrible challenge in last night’s friendly between Portugal and Argentina left Di Maria in pain on the floor.

Although he played on and looked in no particular discomfort, Argentina boss Gerardo Martino confirmed Di Maria would have an X-ray done to see if any damage was done, so there is an anxious wait for news.

“It was just a blow,” Di Maria said.

“I hope it doesn’t swell any more so I can play at the weekend.”

Questions surely have to be asked what Nani was thinking when he went in for what was a reckless challenge on a United player, at Old Trafford, in a friendly. The Portuguese winger was very late for the tackle and it never even looked like he wanted the ball.

After the continued bad news regarding injuries from United in the past couple of months, hopefully there is some good news about Di Maria released today.
