Angel di Maria has been named on a short-list for the 2014 UEFA Team of the Year.
The Argentinian enjoyed a great season with Real Madrid. Having fought his way back into Carlo Ancelotti’s team, Di Maria became a crucial first-team player and was instrumental in Madrid winning the Champions League.
Di Maria followed his domestic season with strong performances at the World Cup where he helped Argentina reach the final but injury ruled him out of the game against Germany.
There are no other nominations from Manchester United on the 40 man short-list but Di Maria is tipped to earn a place in the final XI.
