Herrera, Januzaj and Evans to play for Man Utd Reserves – report

by Sam Peoples

Ander Herrera and Jonny Evans are both starting for Manchester United tonight in their Lancashire Senior Cup game against Blackburn Rovers, according to reports.

The Spanish midfielder has been an unused substitute in United’s last four games and if Louis van Gaal has decided to play him in the LSC tonight, it indicates that he is still not yet fully fit.

It was a surprise to see Herrera back so soon after fracturing his rib but he hasn’t featured for United since, so having that extra time to recuperate was clearly needed.

As for Evans, Van Gaal intimated last week that he would make his return from injury against Blackburn and it will be a welcome sight to see United’s most experienced defender back in action.

Januzaj is also in line to start for the Reserves. He has played with the U21s on more than one occasion this season and it will do him no harm to get some more playing time. After his previous appearances with the U21s, Januzaj was then drafted into the first-team off the back of some good performances so he’ll be hoping to do the same again.

Here is the reported line-up: Lindegaard, Vermijl, Thorpe, J Evans, Janko, Pearson, Pereira, Herrera, Harrop, W Keane, Januzaj.
