Pereira happy at Man Utd under Van Gaal

Andreas Pereira is prepared to wait for a chance in Manchester United’s first team and hopes he can impress manager Louis van Gaal with a run of games with the U21s.

The Brazilian has been included in several match day squads so far this season and made his debut against MK Dons in the League Cup during August.

The attacking midfielder has scored a few eye-catching goals or the U21s side in recent months, most recently against Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.

Speaking to ESPN Brasil, Pereira said he was pleased to have impressed his new manager this season.

“I was playing for the U-21 when he arrived. In the pre-season, we trained with the first team, he liked what I was showing and picked me.”

The teenager also talked about how hard it is to get starts for the first team.

“I know I’d be playing if I was at a smaller club,” he added.

“But I want to play for the best one. I think I’ll have my chances. I think I’ve got quality and I can’t waste this opportunity.”

Pereira appears happy at Old Trafford and spoke in pre-season about the inspiration he took from watching Angel Di Maria in training and also the urge to sign a new contract with the club.

Given the current injury situations surrounding Ander Herrera and Daley Blind, Perreira might find himself getting more first team cameos over the busy Christmas period.
