Manchester United winger Ashley Young says that the team are still aiming for the Premier League title this season despite sitting 13 points behind runaway leaders Chelsea.
Young made a rare appearance against Arsenal on Saturday and helped the side record back-to-back victories as they move into the part of the season where United have flourished in recent years.
It was United’s first away win of the season and moved the club into the top four for the first time this season and with players coming back from injury, Young says the players will never give up on winning the league.
“I think the manager has said obviously we want to break that top four,” said Young.
“But you know players and staff at the club, we want to win the league title.
“The manager wants to achieve massive things, he wants the club to get back to winning titles, and we’re no different to that.
“You know the players have bought into that philosophy since pre-season and that’s exactly what everyone is doing.
“We’re all pulling in the right direction, pulling in the same direction and everybody is leading that charge up the league.”
United have two home games coming up against Hull City and Stoke City before vital matches against Southampton and Liverpool as teams race for the Champions League places behind leaders Chelsea.
Under Sir Alex Ferguson, United regularly went on good runs into the New Year and with many of their rivals struggling for form, a good run of wins now could help the club return to the pinnacle of European football.
