It was a tale of two halves as Robin van Persie‘s superb strike in Manchester United’s 3-0 win against Hull City glossed over a poor first half performance from the Dutchman.
Van Persie struggled to get a hold of the ball during the opening 45 minutes and his first touch was regularly absent as his team mates played some lovely one touch football.
But Van Persie soon channelled that frustration into a goal as he smashed the ball into the top corner of the net to round off the victory in the second half. His all round game improved and he looked to regain some confidence before being replaced by Radamel Falcao.
Fans across social media were torn over his performance ahead of Tuesday’s impending game against Stoke City.
If players were dropped based on their warm-ups, Van Persie wouldn't even be on the bench. He's had an absolute nightmare.

Why is Van Persie not making the simple pass? He just tried dribbling two defenders into nowhere…

Well that was a rocket. What a goal from Van Persie.

Robin van Persie leaves to a standing ovation and rapturous applause, he needs confidence and a bit of love. That goal will do him good!

Van Persie may not have had the chance to score such a goal had James Wilson seemingly not picked up an injury towards the end of the week.
But with Wilson out and Falcao not fully fit, the goal should keep van Persie in the team for the visit of Stoke but it’s not lost on United supporters than they still need more from their star man.
