Josh Harrop praised for progress this season at Man Utd

Young Manchester United left-back Reece James left for Rotherham United this week on a six-week loan but had chance to speak to ManUtd.com about training sessions and who shines regularly out on the training pitch.

James was a key part of Louis van Gaal‘s pre-season preparations but has only featured in one League Cup match this season before joining Rotherham.

The 21-year old was particularly full of praise for midfielder Josh Harrop who is yet to make the step into the first team.

“There has been a massive improvement from him,” he said.

“He gets on the ball and sometimes you stand back and think: ‘How has he done that?’ He’s always working hard outside on the pitch and has got really good feet.

“I just think he’s improved massively and the call-up for the England Under-20 squad shows how well he has done this season.”

This is only Harrop’s first full season with United’s U21s but he already looks very accomplished. He has kept Joe Rothwell out of Warren Joyce’s U21s side on occasions and has been rewarded by being called up to the England U20s squad, which is a testament to how well he has done.

Harrop has struggled with injuries which hopefully won’t hinder his progress too much but it’s not surprise to hear James praise his progress because he certainly has come on leaps and bounds in the space of just one season.
