Manchester United have dropped a massive hint that Paddy McNair will start against Hull City by making the 19-year-old defender the poster boy for today’s game.
McNair started at the Emirates last weekend and was once again solid at the heart of defence in what was a tough day up against an Arsenal side who were creating chances aplenty.
So far, McNair boasts a wonderful United record – he has started four games and United have won four times. To have a 100% success rate is testament to how influential McNair has been.
At a time where solid defending seems to be a foreign language at United, McNair is leading by example which is all the more impressive given that he is the most inexperienced defender in the squad.
Louis van Gaal believed in McNair enough to give him opportunities which have allowed him to flourish and the Northern Irishman has now become the first defender’s name on the team sheet for many fans. Long may it continue.
