Marcos Rojo impresses on early return to Man Utd after injury

Marcos Rojo was a surprise name on the Manchester United team sheet as he and his team mates prepared to take on Hull City.

Rojo, who had missing for a few weeks with a dislocated shoulder, was expected to be out for months but returned to the starting line-up today despite Louis van Gaal suggesting on Friday that he ‘could’ make the 18.

When Rojo made his debut against QPR he looked nervous on the ball and struggled to adapt to his new surroundings, culminating in a disastrous performance against Leicester City a week later.

But before his injury the Argentinian international started to look the part, slotting in well at centre-back and begun to look much more composed on the ball.

Against Hull, Rojo completed 67 of his 68 passes during the game with a 98% pass completion record and looked twice the player on the ball of the one that made his debut in September.

Albeit it was a Hull side that offered little attacking threat of pressure on the ball but it will have given Rojo the world of good to come back in, keep a clean sheet and he is certainly beginning to adapt to his new club.

With Phil Jones and Jonny Evans still missing, Rojo is doing everything he can to convince supporters he’ll be a first choice in defence for the rest of the campaign and beyond.
