Radamel Falcao has already become a cult figure for Manchester United fans in his short time at the club despite playing such little football.
Old Trafford erupts to a chorus of his ‘Lololo Radamel Falcao’ chant whenever the Colombian so much as warms up on the sidelines and the stadium went wild when he scored his first goal for the club in the 2-1 win over Everton.
Rarely does a player have such vociferous support so soon in their United career and Ander Herrera has been talking about why he feels the Colombian is so loved among fans.
“The fans love Falcao because he fights for every ball like it is the last ball of his life,” Herrera told MUTV.
“That is one of his best characteristics. We are lucky that Falcao is here and I’m sure he’s going to be a very important player and I think the Manchester United fans know that.
“When a player gets injured it’s a bad moment for them. I know Falcao well. I knew him in Spain, he was fantastic.
“Atletico Madrid won the Spanish Cup against Real Madrid and he was the most valuable player in the final and we want to see Falcao as soon as possible on the pitch here. Anderson and me tried to make that moment happy for Falcao. We are like a family here – we all want to achieve the same objectives and everyone has to be involved.”
Falcao made his return from injury with a substitute appearance against Hull City and was desperately close to scoring his second United goal but a goal-line clearance from Michael Dawson stopped him.
Going into the festive period, Falcao has an opportunity to make a name for himself if he can keep fit and United fans are certainly hoping to start seeing the real Falcao who is without doubt one of the best strikers in the world.
