David De Gea once again became the hero for Manchester United on Tuesday night and not for the first time this season.
De Gea made an incredible save from ex-United man Mame Biram Diouf deep into stoppage time before thwarting Mirko Arnautovic just seconds later.
There were echoes of the Everton game in October when the Spaniard again made two important late saves to seal a 2-1 victory for Louis van Gaal‘s side.
It was De Gea’s third quiet home game in a row up until that point but he also played a crucial role in the away win at Arsenal 10 days ago.
It seemed almost certain a combination of Diouf and missed chances would come back to haunt United and supporters were once again quick to cover De Gea in praise after the match.

Given United’s next match is away to Southampton, De Gea will probably be called upon once again to provide the heroics if he and his team mates want to go into the Liverpool off the back of five straight league wins.
After his saves tonight, similar theatrics against Everton and his performance against Arsenal, De Gea is proving the theory that goalkeepers win you points over the course of a season.
