MUTV’s predicted XI: Southampton vs Man United

by Sam Peoples

MUTV’s Stewart Gardner has given his Manchester United predicted XI for tonight’s game against Southampton and has gone for the 4-4-2 diamond which Louis van Gaal has started to use again.

An unchanged back four sits behind Michael Carrick in his deep lying midfield role with Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini in central midfield.

Ander Herrera has been chosen in the more advanced No.10 role with Robin van Persie and a returning Wayne Rooney in front of him. Although Mata is the more natural No.10, he and Herrera have been interchanging in the last two games for United and it has worked out well for United.

If this was the line-up, it would see United have some much needed consistency with their starting XI which would be very important as Chelsea have shown how crucial having regular starters is to mounting a title push.
