Rooney hails fifth consecutive win and brilliant Man Utd away fans

Wayne Rooney knows last night was not Manchester United’s best performance but was delighted to come away with the three points.

The United captain also praised United’s brilliant away fans who never stopped singing from the start and kept going on even after the full time whistle had gone.

It’s a win which lifts United into third spot in the Premier League and going into this weekend’s fixture against Liverpool, United are in great shape.

“Not our best performance last night but a big 3 points and our fifth straight win. Special mention to our away support who were brilliant from start to finish. Next up….Liverpool!”

The beauty of United’s current run of form is that, by all accounts, they are still playing far beneath themselves. The win over Hull City at home was a magnificent, controlled and dominant performance but apart from that, United’s other four wins have been gritty and nailbiting.

Stoke, Arsenal, Southampton and Crystal Palace were all games which United failed to dominate but came away from with three points. That’s always been the trademark of champions, being able to win a game when not playing your best and United have made a great habit of that since the start of November.
