Robin van Persie warns Liverpool ahead of derby

Robin van Persie has fired a warning to rivals Liverpool saying that he is hitting top form ahead of the team’s visit to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Manchester United striker has three goals in three games since his manager openly criticised his performances and it now seems certain the Dutchman will be at the forefront of United’s attack this weekend.

The 31-year-old spoke about his readiness to play a full 90 minutes after Monday’s victory against Southampton and now the striker has turned his attention to the crunch match against Liverpool.

Speaking to the Sun off the back of two goals that saw United pick up their fifth win a row at St. Mary’s, van Persie said: “The goals, assists, wins will come. I just have to keep it going and play more.

“The next game is Liverpool, so we’re looking forward to that. We are really happy that we are on the way up now. We have to keep the momentum going.”

With Radamel Falcao seemingly now back from injury and at least fit enough to play some part of every game and youngster James Wilson continuing to impress, Van Persie will use the fact he’s under pressure to perform well over the busy Christmas period.

With four strikers working for one or two spots in the starting line-up, all four can expect to start at least one game over the next month.
