Ahead of Louis van Gaal‘s press conference this afternoon, here’s the latest injury update on Manchester United’s players.
In the build-up to Southampton, Louis van Gaal said he expected Angel di Maria to be back ‘very quickly’ from his hamstring injury, so the Argentinian could make a return this weekend if he has been able to train with the first-team this week.
Radamel Falcao has been working hard for weeks now on his fitness and only an inspired finish by Robin van Persie stopped him from coming on against Southampton on Monday. If Wayne Rooney plays in a deeper role, Falcao could start for United.
In defence, Jonny Evans has been tipped to start his first game in months as Chris Smalling is ruled out of the game with a groin tear.
There could be other returning players in defence in both full-back positions. Like Falcao, Rafael has been hard in training and although Falcao said he wasn’t ready for the Southampton game, another week has passed for the Brazilian to work his way back to fitness.
As for Luke Shaw, he was in the crowd watching on at St. Mary’s on Monday so was fit enough to travel with the squad but there has been very little information on his condition.
Van Gaal’s press conference ahead of the Liverpool game is at 4pm on Friday and The Peoples Person will bring you all the latest injury updates from the conference, so come back later today to find out what has been revealed.
