Manchester United’s defesive injury crisis continued over the weekend as Marcos Rojo picked up an injury in the final training season ahead of Sunday’s game against Liverpool.
Rojo had been in good form playing alongside Chris Smalling since returning from a dislocated shoulder but the Argentine misses today’s game, the injury prognosis is unknown for now.
It does mean a return to the starting line-up for Phil Jones. The England international has been missing since the game against West Brom in October and Louis van Gaal says he had no option but to put Jones in the team.
“I had to change at the last moment, Rojo got injured in training yesterday so Phil Jones comes in,” the manager said ahead of the Liverpool game.
Jones partners Jonny Evans in defence for the Liverpool game, the latter making his first start since the 5-3 defeat to Liverpool three months ago.
