David de Gea was the hero once again for Manchester United in this weekend’s 3-0 win over Liverpool with another inspiring performance in goal.
The Spaniard swatted away multiple chances from Raheem Sterling and Mario Balotelli in what was one of his most accomplished performances to date.
It saw De Gea deservedly named Man of the Match and he thanked fans for their continued support which is getting louder with every passing game with United currently on a run of six straight victories.
Happy for the victory and for the fans at Old Trafford!! We continue the winning run! Thanks for your support! pic.twitter.com/F71Gk9gCX9
De Gea made countless brilliant saves on Sunday but one in particular showed how accomplished he now is in goal.
When Sterling latched on to a poor back-pass, De Gea was left one-on-one with the Liverpool attacker and it seemed certain he would grab a goal back. However, De Gea kept his composure, stayed on his feet to shut the angle down and pulled off a save. Fantastic.
It’s only December but United fans are fast running out of superlatives to describe De Gea’s performances this season and the sooner a new contract is sorted the better.
