David de Gea‘s form with Manchester United this season has seen him voted as the best goalkeeper in the world by viewers on Sky Sports News.
The Spaniard was in incredible form for United this weekend against Liverpool and was nominated ahead of Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.
There’s no shadow of a doubt that De Gea is the best goalkeeper on form in the Premier League and he should probably be considered the best overall but it might be a little early to call him the world’s best.
Bayern’s Neuer has been nominated on the three man shortlist for the 2014 Ballon d’Or and although De Gea can compete with the German in terms of shot-stopping, he still has some way to go in order to match how commanding Neuer is in his box and how quick he is off his line.
Despite all that, it’s yet another indicator of just how far De Gea has come since joining United back in 2011 and if he does continue getting better every single season, it won’t be long before he can truly be called the best goalkeeper in the world.
