Angel di Maria returns to Man Utd training

Manchester United star Angel Di Maria is back training with the first team ahead of Saturday’s match against Aston Villa.

United will be looking to make it seven wins on the bounce and have continued their good run of form even without their record signing.

The Argentinian international pulled up early in the Hull City match several weeks ago with a hamstring problem and missed important games against Southampton and Liverpool.

But it appears the £59.7m man is back in training and could be in contention for the visit to Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Louis van Gaal‘s injury crisis had appeared to be easing in recent weeks but further problems for Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo put the side back to square one defensively.

But Rojo could also return this weekend along with Rafael Da Silva whilst Phil Jones and Jonny Evans made their first starts since October and November respectively against Liverpool.

Luke Shaw could also return in the coming weeks with potentially Daley Blind the only first team absentee going into 2015.

But Di Maria’s return will be the most welcome of all given his importance to the team so far this season. Despite goals for Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie on Sunday, Di Maria’s pace and incisiveness has added a new dynamic to the side since his arrival in August.
