Juan Mata has had a greater impact at Manchester United since leaving Chelsea in January than former team mate Eden Hazard has at Stamford Bridge.
The surprising statistic came to light after Mata scored his 11th goal for the club against Liverpool on Sunday. Whilst anyone could argue Hazard’s importance to Chelsea is greater than Mata’s to United, on paper the statistic shows Mata hasn’t been a failure at Old Trafford.
Despite a hefty club record fee at the time, Mata struggled to influence games as he did at Stamford Bridge and that has continued into the new season but the popular Spaniard is still contributing goals and assists on a regular basis.
The stats are almost exactly same in the twelve months that have passed since the transfer, although the 26-year-old has had 200 minutes worth of action less than his former Belgian team mate.

Mata got the second goal against Liverpool on Sunday, adding to the winning goals he has also scored against Stoke and Crystal Palace recently during United’s winning run of six games.
He also scored two braces last season, the first coming against Newcastle United and the second in the first game post-Moyes against Norwich City.
