Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has praised Radamel Falcao and described his equalising goal against Aston Villa as ‘beautiful’.
Falcao made just his fourth start for the club at Villa Park and his first since scoring the winner against Everton back in October.
The visitors trailed at half-time thanks to a Christian Benteke shot but improved after half-time when eventually the pressure told.
Ashley Young, impressive among the boos and jeers, put in a great cross for Falcao to head past Brad Guzan into the net. It put United level and supporters would have expected their side to go on and win, especially after Gabriel Agbonlahor was sent off.
But it just a point for United and the end of a six-game winning but van Gaal was still happy with his striker’s performance.
Speaking after the game, the boss said: “Falcao’s goal was beautiful I think.
“I liked him today so I am very happy with him.”
Falcao’s return to full fitness is a huge plus for United going into a busy run of games starting with Newcastle United’s visit to Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
With the side still leaking goals, the strikers will need to be clinical and a fit and firing Falcao can’t be a bad thing for anybody, except the opposition.
