The former United manager brought both players to Old Trafford at different times during his career at the club and appears happy to both his former strikers back in good form lately.
Van Persie has proven his importance to the team after coming under criticism with four goals in five games whilst Rooney has returned from criticism of his own after seeing red against West Ham, giving him a three-match ban.
Rooney returned and scored the opening goals against Hull City and Liverpool and Ferguson commented on Rooney’s goalscoring potential.
“Wayne Rooney is back flying,” said Ferguson.
“Rooney will always get you a goal and that is always an advantage when you have a goalscorer in your team.”
Van Persie was Ferguson’s last coup in charge of the club when he signed the striker from rivals Arsenal in 2012 and the Dutchman almost single-handedly led United to their 20th league title.
Ferguson is adamant van Persie will return to top form in the second half of the season.
“The World Cup took a little out of him but watch him in the second half of the season. He’ll be fine.”
