It’s been a tough few weeks for Daley Blind following his serious knee injury but the Dutch midfielder was in high spirits yesterday on Christmas.
Having returned to training with Manchester United this week, it’s been a much improved last few days for Blind as he is now closing in on his return to action after spending some time on the sidelines.
Blind will be itching to get back into action as soon as possible and the feeling will be mutual among United fans because of how important he was to the side prior to getting injured.
Blind is not fit enough to return against Newcastle but is expected to be available for selection in early 2015 and Louis van Gaal will be delighted to have him back in the side.
Michael Carrick has been excellent in his absence but thanks to defensive injuries he has been forced to drop deeper into defence, meaning United have sorely missed Blind’s presence which has most certainly been exacerbated by Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera‘s absence.
Given how tactically aware and intelligent both Blind and Carrick are, Van Gaal will be eager to try and find a way to get both into his starting XI as soon as possible.
