Juan Mata put in another top performance at Old Trafford as Manchester United ran out 3-1 winners against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
Mata, playing behind the strike duo of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao was influential throughout the game, playing a leading role in the two first half goals.
Given space on the edge of the box, the Spaniard floated in a great ball which Falcao duly cut back for Wayne Rooney to top home the opener. Mata soon provided an assist himself when he found Rooney again for the second.
It was a performance supporters have come accustomed to at Old Trafford and there was plenty of praise for the little Spaniard post-match.
Thought Mata was good again today. Loving him holding on to that starting place in the team.

So good when Mata feels like playing a decisive pass

I don't get Juan Mata, he's fantastic at Old Trafford, but loses his way away from home. Another superb start from him today.

The only concern to supporters will be Mata’s performances away from home. Goals and against Liverpool, Stoke and Crystal Palace lately have all come at Old Trafford but Mata has been fairly anonymous during away games.
Given the fact United’s next three games are all away from home, fans will hope that trend changes soon.
