Citing a poor attitude and general timekeeping issues as the main reasons, Leicester’s coaching staff are believed to have become too frustrated with Powell for him to continue on loan.
Powell could be sent straight back out on loan and Neil Lennon’s Bolton is named as a potential club for him.
Earlier in December, The Telegraph first reported murmurings of Powell’s poor attitude and the latest stories indicate there has been no improvement at all.
Back when Powell was on loan at Wigan Athletic, there were also suggestions Powell had a poor attitude which kept him out of the team after returning from injury, so it isn’t the first time stories like these have emerged about the 20-year-old midfielder.
Once hailed by Sir Alex Ferguson as a potential replacement for Paul Scholes in the long-term, Powell has not progressed enough since. He enjoyed a decent season on loan at Wigan last year but has failed to use that as a springboard despite getting a loan to a Premier League club this campaign.
Whatever the issue is, Powell needs to improve or could find his United career is over before it has even begun.
Unfortunately, there are always some footballers in every generation who, for one reason or another, waste their talents. Ravel Morrison is a prime example of one which has affected United in recent times and although Powell does not currently fall into that category, there are certainly grounds to be concerned.
