Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss the rest of the festive period after sustaining a broken rib.
Fellaini missed games against Aston Villa and Newcastle United through illness but reports this afternoon suggest the Belgian also picked up a rib injury in training after the 3-0 win against Liverpool.
Louis van Gaal already stated after the Newcastle game that Fellaini wouldn’t feature against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon and it appears the latest setback will keep the £27m man out of the New Year period against Stoke and Yeovil too.
Fellaini had been in good form for United after a tough first season under David Moyes but came to life after scoring his first goal for the club against West Brom in October.
The midfielder went on to start every game until the Villa match, including games against Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Southampton and looked like a new signing compared to last season.
Fellaini scored his first Old Trafford goal in the 2-1 win over Stoke City but looks like he’ll miss the return fixture on New Year’s Day.
