Bojan doubtful for Man Utd clash

by Richard Laverty

Stoke City’s star man Bojan Krkic is a huge doubt for Thursday’s game against Manchester United due to a hamstring injury.

The Spaniard has been a revelation in recent weeks and has proved to be a real coup after joining Stoke in the summer.

The 24-year-old was brought off in Stoke’s last game, a 2-0 win against West Brom as a precaution after feeling his hamstring during the game but Hughes thinks it’s unlikely Bojan will face United on New Year’s Day.

It will be a boost to United given Bojan’s form and the fact he has been one of Stoke’s best players of late and his absence would be a good start to 2015 for Louis van Gaal.

Speaking ahead of the clash against his former club, Hughes said: “We are still waiting to find out the full extent of Bojan’s injury when he goes for a scan later this afternoon.”

“The feeling is he has some kind of strain and there is a strong possibility he will miss the game against Manchester United.

“We will have to await the results of his scan, we may get some good news but at the moment we expect him to miss out unfortunately.”

Hughes did confirm that Jonathan Walters should be fit to return to action against United.
