Ashley Young ruled out for four weeks

Louis van Gaal has confirmed Ashley Young is set for a month on the sidelines after suffering a new hamstring injury against Stoke City.

Young has been in great form for United in recent weeks so his injury is a cruel blow given how much progress he has made under Louis van Gaal.

On the upside, Van Gaal revealed Luke Shaw‘s substitution was planned and there was no injury behind his decision to take him off.

Speaking to reporters at full-time, Van Gaal said: “Young has a hamstring injury again and Shaw is not a problem, it was a planned change.”

It’s certainly a concern how many muscular injuries United’s players have suffered this year and in total United have now had over 50 separate injury incidents so far this season.

Is it simply coincidence and bad luck that United keep having so many injuries? There’s a lot of questions and not many answers but time and time again, United have been on the wrong end of injuries this season and the start of 2015 suggests that trend will continue.
