Jonny Evans has struggled for form at Manchester United this season and left supporters frustrated after another poor display away at Stoke.
Evans was part of a defence that failed to pick up either Peter Crouch or Ryan Shawcross after just 90 seconds before somehow allowing ex-United striker Mame Biram Diouf to take the ball off him and run in on goal.
It is not the first time Evans’ mistakes have led to goals this season; poor play from the Northern Ireland international allowed MK Dons to take the lead against United in August and a poor back pass against Burnley almost had similar consequences.
Evans also looked shaky and gave supporters every reason to be nervous against Newcastle and Spurs and weren’t short of criticism for the defender against Stoke.
Evans what happened to him? Lacks confidence therefore lacks composure on the ball. Could've been two goals down with his mistake! #mufc

Of all the players lacking responsibility on the ball today, Evans well up there as the worst. Happy to play dangerous balls to be rid.

Used to rate Jonny Evans but I think Bambi minus a leg, on ice, could do a better job.

Call me old fashioned but I want a centre half to look like a mafia hitman. Evans looks like an accountant. Plays like one too

Some fans even questioned why Evans wasn’t hooked and why Tyler Blackett wasn’t playing over the defender. Given Patrick McNair was brought off against Southampton, it’s a fair question but Louis van Gaal potentially trusted the experience of Evans to turn it around.
He was calmer in the second half but the damage had been done in the opinion of the supporters after a shambolic opening 45 minutes.
