Paul Pogba has once again been linked with a move back to Manchester United.
Since leaving United, Pogba has grown into one of the best young midfielders in European football and at 21 still has so many years ahead of him. Having recently signed a new contract, Juventus would certainly not let Pogba go for cheap but whether Van Gaal would want to sign him is another matter altogether.
Sir Alex Ferguson not being in charge of United any more means there’s certainly more chance Pogba would re-join than if Fergie was still boss. That being said, Kevin Strootman is likely to be the focus of Van Gaal’s attention for a marquee midfield signing and the £77m fee quoted is certainly more than Pogba is worth at this time.
Although the Daily Express cites sources in Italy, reports in Italy cite the Daily Express as their source, so there is some confusion as to the origin of the rumours.
Could Pogba re-join? United certainly have the finances but there is more logic in Strootman being Van Gaal’s focus as the midfield marquee signing of the summer.
