The second group stage of the Mercedes Benz Junior Cup saw Manchester United face Fenerbahce after the Turkish side finished third in Group A after a 6-0 loss against Hoffenheim in their final match of the group stage.
Once again all the outfield players spent time on the pitch but the keeper rotation meant that Dean Henderson was in goal for the game. It was a poor performance from United in the first half. Fenerbahce took the lead after poor defending and United didn’t look like getting back into the half.
United conceded a second and while more pressure was put on the Fenerbahce goal late on, the defence were equal to it and blocked any shots which looked to be on target. The time was against the young Reds and all too soon the final whistle blew.
The U19s have to face Hoffenheim in the second match of Group Two on Sunday 4 January. That match will kick off at 12.20 GMT. United will then play another match to determine their final standing in the competition.
