Anderson makes rare appearance in Man Utd squad

by Richard Laverty

Manchester United midfielder Anderson made a surprise return to the first team squad with a spot on the bench against Yeovil.

Anderson hasn’t made an appearance for the club since August when he played against both Burnley and MK Dons before reinforcements were brought in before the deadline.

The Brazilian joined United in 2007 after winnin the Golden Boy award which has been won since by the likes of Neymar and Raheem Sterling.

Anderson’s decline is sad given the talent he showed in his opening season and the midfielder did have spells later in his Old Trafford career where he hit good form.

Unfortunately, injuries and a questionable lifestyle appeared to take its toll on the 26-year-old who is amazingly now in his ninth season at the club.

Anderson hit some good form towards the end of the 2010/11 season, scoring on the final day against Blackpool and scoring two goals in a Champions League semi-final and took that form into the 2011/12 season.

But his decline from exciting youngster has been sad to watch and couldn’t even get on against Yeovil. With his contract finally running down, Anderson probably won’t be at Old Trafford too much longer.
