Mats Hummels has been linked with a move to Manchester United since Louis van Gaal‘s arrival in the summer and it appears some fans are now taking matters into their own hands.
With January upon us, the transfer rumour mill is at its peak once again and United fans are giddier than ever given the unprecedented summer of spending witnessed by all during the summer.
And it’s clear Hummels would be welcomed at the club given the attention the Germany World Cup winner received on his Instagram account after posting two photos this week
Hummels is undoubtedly a world class centre-back but a player of his calibre would more likely be a summer transfer if it were to happen, particularly given his situation in Germany right now as he is club captain.
His Dortmund side sit in the relegation zone of the Bundesliga and after constant denials in the summer he would leave the club, Hummels wouldn’t be too popular if jumped ship when his team needed him most.
But with Dortmund almost certainly missing from Europe next season barring a miraculous recovery, the player could be open to a move in the summer.
However, United supporters don’t have a good track record when begging players to join the club as Arturo Vidal found out in the summer. In one of the longest running saga’s of the window, United fans hounded the Chilean at every opportunity, even making him sign a United shirt during Juventus’ pre-season tour.
