Man Utd offer Victor Valdes contract

Victor Valdes has been offered a contract by Manchester United and could join the club in January.

Reports from Spain say Valdes has almost fully recovered from his knee injury and having trained with the club since October, United’s medical staff are happy with the rehabilitation of his knee.

Separate reports suggest Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos have been told they are free to look for a new club, which tie in well with the latest update regarding Valdes’ future.

Louis van Gaal and goalkeeping coach Frans Hoek have worked with Valdes during his time at Barcelona and Van Gaal was responsible for giving him his debut for the Spanish giants, so their relationship goes back a long way.

As far as back-up goalkeepers go, United could do far worse than a fully fit Valdes. Back in the summer before Valdes arrived to rehabilitate his knee, Lindegaard’s agent made it clear he would be looking for a new club and nothing has changed on that front. As for Amos, he is now 24 and no closer to breaking into United’s first-team so a move away is logical for him too.
