Martin Odegaard is set to sign for Real Madrid and has flown to Spain in order to complete the deal, reports VG from Norway.
The 16-year-old visited Manchester as part of a Europe wide trip which also saw him visit the likes of Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Ajax and Real Madrid.
With so many clubs vying for his signature, Odegaard was effectively given the choice of Europe’s elite and decided Madrid was the place for him.
While nothing has been confirmed at this stage, it’s worth noting that VG have been at the forefront of news relating to Odegaard from the very start.
In terms of development, there are a host of clubs in Europe who have a greater track record than Madrid at nurturing talent and bringing the best out of youngsters but the Norwegian starlet seems to have made his mind up.
That being said, Madrid certainly have the facilities which should help get the best out of him and with Zinedine Zidane in charge of Madrid’s ‘B’ team, Odegaard could have worse mentors.
At 16, Odegaard is a long way away from any established first-team football but in the first big move of his career, it seems he has rejected the opportunity to join Man United.
