Norwegian wonder-kid Martin Odegaard is in Madrid tonight watching Atletico take on Real in the derby.
Reports earlier this week said Odegaard was in Madrid ahead of completing his move to the European champions and those claims are certainly supported by his presence at the Vicente Calderon tonight.
Odegaard visited Manchester United’s training facilities at Carrington and more than likely met Louis van Gaal and the first-team squad but his heart seems set on a move to Madrid.
It’s a shame for United to have missed out on Odegaard given how much potential he already has at the tender age of 16 but there will be plenty more talented youngsters who will make their way through the doors at the academy.
Last summer’s arrival Timothy Fosu-Mensah, 16, has already trained with United’s reserves which is a testament to his progress since arriving while Canadian midfielder Josh Doughty will soon be announced as a United player.
