Manchester United supporters have always worried their star goalkeeper David de Gea will be snared away by Real Madrid but it appears contract talks are a priority inside Old Trafford.
De Gea has been in superb form this season and has arguably been United’s best player on a consistent basis over the last 18 months but he now has just over a year left on his contract.
This time next year the Spain international would be free to talk to other clubs and leave for free but it would be crazy for the club to allow that to happen.
Andy Mitten, editor of United We Stand and well respected among United fans believes contract talks are now a ‘priority’ and that United will tie de Gea down to a new contract.
There doesn’t appear to be any willingness on de Gea’s part to move away and he appears settled in England but despite the lure of a new contract, supporters will feel it is only a matter of time before the goalkeeper returns to his homeland.
