Jorge Mendes is known for being one of the best agents in the world football and it appears he is playing games in order to get good deals for two of his biggest clients.
Manchester United duo David de Gea and Radamel Falcao are both represented by Mendes and it appears the agent is engineering Falcao’s permanent deal at Old Trafford before turning attentions to de Gea.
Due to the nature of Falcao’s deal, United have just a matter of months to decide whether or not to keep the 29-year-old but senior figures at Old Trafford suggest no decision will be made until the end of the season.
It would only be fair to judge the Colombian come May given he has been overcome several fitness issues since arriving in September and the striker has shown his class with two goals over the busy Christmas period where he started all five games.
United therefore will want to see how Falcao develops over the rest of the season and have said time and time again that they are confident de Gea’s contract situation will be resolved soon.
But with Mendes keen to sort out the Falcao situation as soon as possible, de Gea might have to wait a while longer to put pen-to-paper on any new contract.
