Manchester United go into this game against Southampton with one injured player, one. This situation of nearly having a fully fit squad is unprecedented underneath Louis van Gaal so far but things are looking on the up for United when it comes to injuries.
Naturally, more players make it even harder to choose a starting XI but we could see a few players returning from injury this week.
Something no United fan ever thought they would say prior to his renaissance under Van Gaal but Marouane Fellaini has been missed. In his absence, there has been a distinct lack of physical presence in midfield and possession has been lost too cheaply because of that. The Belgian has been back in training and could potentially make his first start in a long time.
Fellaini’s re-introduction could also bring a lot more balance to the side which certainly ticks Van Gaal’s box.
Van Gaal has also confirmed Luke Shaw will be available for the game after recovering from the ankle problem he suffered against Yeovil. Shaw will be itching to face his former team and that should give him an extra 10% on the day.
